I am Assistant Professor in the Department of English at Whitworth University in Spokane, WA. I received my Ph.D. in English from the University of Texas at Austin in 2017, and an M.A. from the same department in 2013. I graduated cum laude from the University of Arizona with degrees in English and Creative Writing in 2011.
My research interest lie at the intersection of literary, religious, and environmental studies. I work on Old English language and literature, pre-modern environmentalism, ecotheology, and depictions of the medieval world in modern pop culture. My current book project, Old English Ecotheology: The Exeter Book explores the influence of theology on representations of the natural world in Old English poetry. Click here for more information on that project.
When I’m not teaching, writing, or researching, I spend my time exploring all the mountains, rivers, wineries, and restaurants Eastern Washington has to offer.
